Profile

I am a traditional figurative artist, I paint plein air in oils or watercolour.  Larger studio paintings are completed using plein air reference either at home in my Cornish studio or on my travels in my lovely mobile studio. I gather painting inspiration through travel and visiting new places.  I find myself drawn to domestic subject matter; complex interiors, markets, gardens.  I am a compulsive sketchbook keeper.

I was born into a family with artistic roots that began on the Lizard, Cornwall in 1650 and stretched as far as New Zealand.

At an early age, I ran away to sea to study Fine Art at Falmouth School of Art and graduated with a degree in sculpture.

I then exhibited with several galleries including the Portal Gallery in London and illustrated for the BBC and the National Trust.

I travelled the world, painting all the way, to China, Russia, Israel and Norway, living and teaching art in Norway and France.

I returned to Cornwall and set up a mural company as well as working as an illustrator while my five children were young. I have also worked as a gallery manager.

I was the only English artist/ animator who worked on the film “Loving Vincent” I also work for Artlook Software as Client Support and Artist Ambassador.
