Downpour

This painting is a result of some fantastic recent experiences of swimming in torrential summer rainstorms. Heavy raindrops plummeting into the water, warm air and a wonderful greenish light bouncing back from the trees.  I have always enjoyed summer storms, being out in them as all your senses are heightened, the noise of them, the way that scent is more noticable, everything looks very different and often quite suddenly.  From a leaden sky to the first drops of rain on sun baked earth.  Take all of that and plop yourself in the middle of a body of water and it becomes a very immersive experience.
