Evening Breeze on the Helford

Sitting beside the Helford River there is always a sense of movement, there is even the sound of movement, the clinking of boats, lapping water, sea birds calling. I wanted to express that in this painting, how somewhere so calm and peaceful could at the same time be full of life and movement.  Sunsets are often spectacular and here the clouds are reflected in the water and the wet stones on the shore.  It is painted with a limited palette of colours and a conscious homage to the skies in the paintings of van Gogh.
