Sarah Wimperis is a traditional figurative artist, she paints plein air in oils or watercolour.  Larger studio paintings are completed using plein air reference either at home in her Cornish studio or on her travels in her mobile studio. She gathers painting inspiration through travel and visiting new places, drawn to domestic subject matter; complex interiors, markets, gardens.  She is a compulsive sketchbook keeper.

Born in into a family with artistic roots that began on the Lizard, Cornwall in 1650 and stretched as far as New Zealand, Sarah began painting at a very early age.

She ran away to sea (Cornwall) to study Fine Art at Falmouth School of Art and graduated with a degree in sculpture.

Sarah has exhibited with several galleries including the Portal Gallery in London and illustrated for the BBC programme Jackanory and the National Trust.

She travelled the world, painting all the way, to China, Russia, Israel and Norway, living and teaching art in Norway and France.

She returned to Cornwall and painted murals before becoming a professional illustrator and has illustrated for many publishing houses.

Sarah lives and works in Cornwall.  She also has a mobile studio which enables her to spend time traveling, teaching and painting in Britain and Europe.

Exhibiting with Beside the Wave gallery in Falmouth and London from 2008.
